MySpace has recently revealed that 30% of its US workforce will be cut in an attempt to eliminate “bloated” staff levels.
The restructure will mean that the total number of MySpace employees will decreased to around one thousand staff members, with cuts being made across all divisions of the company.
These cuts follow recent research into usage figures from online measurement companies Nielsen Online, ComScore and Hitwise who all reported that rivals Facebook had recently overtaken MySpace in regards to traffic levels to the sites in America. Facebook has been the most popular Social Network in the UK for several years now with the same switch in number one spot occuring in September 2007 in the UK.
It seems as though MySpace are preparing for the worst as Facebook continues to grow worldwide.
